Jessica Tavares, the child prodigy who used to appear weekly on a Portuguese girl group Docemania, is now making the jump over to the British music scene. While she burst onto the scene as a 12-year-old member of an impressive girl band, Jessica is now setting out on her own as a solo musician, actress, dancer, and model.
Part of a girl band, solo singer, catwalk model for big designers, qualified as a soprano, and graduated acting school – Jessica Tavares has it all!

During her girl band days, Jessica and her bandmates released their debut album in 2006, which received gold and platinum awards and was requested for a host of concerts across Portugal. However, it was in the period between band and solo that Jessica truly found her own voice – brown.sugar.
The first single from brown.sugar really channels Jessica’s personal musical influences, including the likes of Lauryn Hill, Nas, Ella Fitzgerald, and Erykah Badu. The song explores a nocturnal encounter between two people, with one attempting to take ‘a piece of sweetness’ from the other. Trust us when we say there is a reason this artist is catching the ear of the modern music scene in the UK.
Originally from Cape Verde in West Africa, Jessica Tavares is currently playing live shows and always strives to provide a little surprise for her audience. Jessica has found her style within the RnB, hip-hop, and spoken word world. The 29-year-old writes to release her personal feelings and emotions, as well as to share her struggles with a wider audience to spread love and understanding.
